The Shearwater Tern is an AMOLED screen dive computer designed for technical and recreational divers. It has a depth rating of 120 metres and supports Air, Nitrox, 3-Gas Nitrox, Gauge, and Freediving modes, promising to be reliable for recreational divers using air and Nitrox.
Based on the success of the popular Shearwater Peregrine, the Tern features a similar design but is lighter and thinner than the Shearwater Teric. The main difference between the Tern and the Tern TX is the colour of the bezel and buttons, which are silver instead of black. Additionally, the Tern does not feature transmitter capabilities or a digital compass. Neither Tern model has technical mixed gas OC and CCR modes, which are available on the Shearwater Perdix 2, Teric, and Petrel 3 models.
Both the Tern and Tern TX have a depth rating of 120 metres and meet EN technical standards for dive computers. Both support Air, Nitrox, 3-Gas Nitrox, Gauge, and Freediving modes, and can log up to 500 hours of dives, with a battery life of 20 hours in dive mode.
The Tern, with its watch-style design, features a 1.3-inch AMOLED screen, providing excellent visibility in various lighting conditions. The high-resolution, vibrant display ensures divers have immediate access to essential data, enhancing safety and enjoyment during their dives.
